Constitution of the Nordic Society for Philosophy of Education
I Name
The name of the society is "The Nordic Society for Philosophy of Education"
II Purpose
The purposes of the society are
- to foster dialogue among philosophers of education in the Nordic countries, as well as with other philosophy of education societies
- to coordinate, facilitate and support exchange of ideas, information and experiences in philosophy of education, to encourage joint and comparative research; to cooperate in publishing and in organizing meetings for in-depth discussions
- to recruit new participants to the field of philosophy of education.
III Membership
Membership of the society shall be open to all those who share its purposes. There shall be one category of member of the society. The Steering Committee shall maintain an official membership list.
IV Management of the society
- There shall be a Steering Committee to manage the business of the society
- There shall be a Convenor of the Steering Committee, to be elected by the Steering
- The Steering Committee shall (ideally) have at least one member from each of the Nordic countries; a maximum of 7 members including the Convenor
- Members of the committee will be elected for a period of 3 years and will be eligible for re-election. Membership of the committee will be on a rolling basis
- The Steering Committee shall appoint a secretary/treasurer
- The Steering Committee shall have the power to co-opt members to the committee
- The Steering Committee shall arrange meetings of the society, admit new members to the society, administer the finances of the society and deal with matters concerning the implementation of the purposes of the society
- The Steering Committee shall organize sessions addressing philosophical treatment of educational matters during the Annual Congress of the Nordic Society for Educational Research (NERA/NFPF). Meetings need not be confined to the NERA/NFPF
- The Steering Committee shall keep a record of it's and the society's activities, to be presented at the general meeting or otherwise communicated to the members.
V General meeting
A general meeting shall be held at each annual congress of the NERA/NFPF, at a date, time and place to be fixed by the Steering Committee
