        <![CDATA[<p align="right">NERA 2009, Trondheim</p><p><br />This year's network activities at the NERA conference included 4 sessions with 11 paper presentations (number 12 did not turn up), and a symposium called 'Literacy as a performative act'. Inger Assarson introduced the theme in the symposium, and 3 representatives from Multicultural Educational Research network and Poststructuralist Pedagogical Research network also contributed. </p>
<p>At the network meeting 12 people were present. </p>

<li>Ideas for next year</li>

<h4>1: Inclusive vs special education</h4>
<p>One view was to underline diversity as a core concept for the network. Another view was to work with inclusive education even within special education. Worries for the fate of special education research within NERA were expressed by some. <br /><br /></p>

<h4>2: Ideas for next year</h4>
<p>Some felt that more cross-networking symposia or other cross-networking meeting places like this year's symposium should be initiated. A round-table session to discuss the basic concepts we use was another of the suggestions. Issues mentioned in 1) should be addressed. Teacher education also was mentioned as a theme for the sessions. Four people - Anne Lise Arnesen, Ninna Garm, Inger Assarson, Rolf Fasting - volunteered to discuss further ideas for the next conference. The network convenor, Kari, will contact them early in the autumn term. <br /><br />Concerning the organizing of the network during the conference, people generally felt that it would be an advantage to arrange the network meeting a bit later during the programme, after more of the sessions were held. One could also make more out of the common lunch. </p>
